Viewers get to know a horror film legend, visit a cemetery and hear local ghost stories on the next edition of Louisville Life, airing Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, Nov. 2 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, Nov. 4 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.First, the program remembers Louisvillian and famous film director Tod Browning, whose 1931 movie Dracula was a career highlight. At age 16, Browning ran away to travel and perform with sideshows, carnivals and circuses. Later, Browning appeared in D.W. Griffith's epic, Intolerance, marking the beginning of a career in Hollywood that would span more than three decades.
Then, Louisville Life visits Cave Hill Cemetery, which was designed by civil engineer Edmund Francis Lee in the 1840s. This segment examines the history, design and future of the well-known site.
Next, the program stops by the DuPont Mansion Bed and Breakfast in the Old Louisville Historical District. Constructed circa 1879 by the Delaware DuPonts, the DuPont Mansion is representative of the Victorian era style found throughout the neighborhood .
Then, Candyce interviews David Dominé, author of the local bestseller Ghosts of Old Louisville. In his book, Dominé introduces some well-known local ghosts, including the Lady of the Stairs, who waits forever for her lost lover; a mischievous poltergeist named Lucy who inhabits Dominé's own home; and a playful little girl known as Rose who probably perished from tuberculosis.
Finally, the program recalls the history of Corn Island, a large island in the Ohio River that was settled in 1778 by George Rogers Clark and now lies permanently underwater .
