Louisville Life looks at the experiences of a Louisvillian reporting from Iraq, historic local architecture and a famous 19th-century actress on the next edition. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, Nov. 16 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, Nov. 18 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.
First, Louisville Life meets Terry Boyd, a reporter for Louisville’s Business First newspaper and former reporter for Stars and Stripes magazine. While with the military magazine, Boyd was sent on assignment to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.
Then, Winfrey Blackburn, co-author of Kentucky Houses of Stratton Hammon, discusses the work of the famous Kentucky architect. Hammon, a native Louisvillian, designed Colonial American homes, paying special attention to both historic designs and modern conveniences. Blackburn’s book is a comprehensive look at his work.
Next, Louisville Life learns about 19th-century actress and Louisville native Mary Anderson. Her first stage appearance was as Juliet at Louisville’s Macauley’s Theatre in 1875. She went on to star in a variety of roles at major playhouses internationally. In 1989, the Mary Anderson Center for the Arts was founded in southern Indiana.
