The Commonwealth Fund for KET recently recognized some of its corporate and individual partners with a reception and awards ceremony. The ceremony, attended by PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger, took place on October 18 at KET’s network center in Lexington.

The Kentucky Medical Association (KMA) and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association (KRTA) both received KET Group Membership Awards. Organizations are chosen for these awards based on their efforts to advance the mission of KET by presenting fund-raising opportunities and benefits to their members. Both the KMA and the KRTA have long-standing relationships with KET.

The recipient of the KET Civic Partner Award is selected based on an organization’s continued efforts to bring KET’s mission and values into the forefront of the community. This year, the Speed Art Museum was chosen for the award because of the museum’s partnership in many KET Family Fun Club events, and for participation in KET productions and services such as Kentucky Life, Louisville Life, Art to Heart and the Arts Toolkits for teachers

The final award given at the ceremony was the President’s Award, which went to Nick Nicholson and Fran Taylor of Keeneland. This award is presented to a local organization whose values and goals reflect those of KET. In this case, the President’s Award recognizes Keeneland’s commitment to the preservation of Kentucky’s heritage, and its support and involvement in KET’s forthcoming documentary Thoroughbred.

Michele Ripley, president of KET’s Commonwealth Fund, said, “These organizations have been loyal supporters of KET, and we are honored to recognize their role in advancing our mission of providing outstanding educational services and local programming for Kentuckians of all ages.”
