New Celtic Woman holiday special headlines WinterPledge

Tickets offered to Celtic Woman, Johnny Mathis, Blue Man Group concerts

For Release: 2007-11-13 11:34:00

Music fans won’t want to miss this season’s hit, Celtic Woman: A Christmas Celebration — just one of the many concerts featured during WinterPledge 2007, an opportunity for KET supporters to share the blessings of the season by making a pledge in support of quality programming and services for citizens of the Commonwealth.

The new special, recorded in Dublin’s prestigious Helix Centre, where the Celtic Woman phenomenon began, features seasonal favorites and original pieces. The special airs Saturday, Dec. 1 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 9:30/8:30 p.m. CT on KET1 and Thursday, Dec. 6 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET2.

“In today’s multimedia environment, where hundreds of channels compete for your attention, there’s just one TV media outlet that exists to serve citizens — not profit from them,” notes Michele Ripley, president of KET’s fund-raising arm, the Commonwealth Fund for KET. “That is what makes public media so important. Individuals can make a difference, by joining our commitment to the people of Kentucky and making a tax-deductible contribution.”

During WinterPledge, viewers can receive tickets to see three great artists during their concerts in the Commonwealth when they donate to KET. As a thank-you gift, KET is offering seats to the Celtic Woman concert April 1 at the Louisville Palace, Blue Man Group’s concerts April 25 at Freedom Hall in Louisville and April 27 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, and Johnny Mathis’ May 11 appearance at the Louisville Palace.
