Maker's Mark president on next One to One

For Release: 2007-11-13 11:34:00

Bill Samuels Jr., president of Maker’s Mark, discusses his family’s heritage in the world of bourbon-making on the next One to One, airing Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2. Bill Goodman hosts.

The Samuels family began distilling in 1780, and Samuels’ father purchased the small distillery in Marion County now known as Maker’s Mark Distillery. Recognized by its distinctive red wax top, Maker’s Mark is sold throughout the world.

Samuels recently authored Maker’s Mark: My Autobiography, a book that takes readers on a guided tour of the old-fashioned distillery, describes how bourbon is made, explains what makes an excellent bourbon and includes food and drink recipes.

Maker’s Mark: My Autobiography also touches on the brand’s advertising history and Samuels’ reputation as a daring marketer. On the program, Samuels discusses his offbeat approach to reaching new customers.

One to One is a KET production, produced by Bill Goodman and Cindy Asher. Following the broadcast, One to One is available for on-demand videostream viewing at www.ket.org/publicaffairs/onetoone.htm and podcasting at www.ket.org/rss.
