KET airs state high school band championships

Kentucky high school musicians were on the march Oct. 20 at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville for this year’s state high school band championships. Highlights of the day’s performances are presented in KMEA Kentucky Marching Band Championships 2007, airing Sunday, Dec. 16 at 1 p.m./noon CT on KET1.

 The show features performances of the full marching show of the first-place bands in all five classes, as well as highlights of the bands which finished in second, third and fourth place in each class.

Top bands whose full performances will be featured are: Class 5A, Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Lexington; Class 4A, Madisonville-North Hopkins High School; Class 3A, Adair County High School; Class 2A, Muhlenberg South High School; and Class A, Williamstown High School.

Other schools’ performances that appear in the program are:

Class 5A, Lafayette High School, Lexington, second place; North Hardin High School, third place; and Madison Central High School, fourth place.

Class 4A, Calloway County High School, second place; Rowan County High School, third place; and Harrison County High School, fourth place.

Class 3A, Bourbon County High School, second place; Garrard County High School, third place; and Boyle County High School, fourth place.

Class 2A, Murray High School, second place; Washington County High School, third place; and Lloyd Memorial High School, Erlanger, fourth place.

Class A, Beechwood High School, second place; Nicholas County High School, third place; and Cumberland County High School, fourth place.
