Louisville Life features Christmas collection, barbeque specialist, Goodwill president, Western star

For Release: 2007-12-03 14:58:00

The next edition of Louisville Life includes Christmas collectors, restaurateur Vince Staten, family-friendly Henry’s Ark and actor Victor Mature. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, Dec. 20 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, Dec. 21 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, Dec. 23 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.

First, viewers meet Christmas collectors Tim and Elizabeth Young. Both long-time collectors of toys and memorabilia, they have turned their southern Indiana residence into a scene from Christmases past.

Then, author and Prospect restaurateur Staten cooks up a new edition of his popular book, Real Barbeque. Stanton, a former Courier-Journal and Louisville Times columnist, is also the author of several humorous books, including Can You Trust a Tomato in January?

Next, Louisville Life visits Henry’s Ark, also in Prospect. The zoo is home to an eclectic group of free-roaming animals, including cows, goats, chickens, possum, llamas and Zeedonk, a zebra/donkey hybrid.

Then, Candyce talks with Roland R. Blahnik, president and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Kentucky, which operates 51 centers across the state. The centers employ and train persons with disabilities in some of the poorest regions of Kentucky. In 2006 more than $102 million in wages were paid to persons with disabilities, and more than 860 persons with disabilities were placed with Kentucky employers.

Finally, Louisville Life recalls legendary actor Victor Mature. Mature, who was born and raised in Louisville, starred in classic Westerns My Darling Clementine and Wyatt Earp and Cecil B. DeMille’s Samson and Delilah.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
