Ed McMahon, of The Tonight Show and Star Search fame, sits down with host Bill Goodman to discuss his career and longevity in the entertainment industry on the next One to One. The program airs Tuesday, Dec. 18 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2 and Sunday, Dec. 23 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1.
McMahon talks about his Kentucky connections, including a notable trip to the Derby with former Gov. John Y. Brown; his new book, When Television Was Young: The Inside Story with Memories by Legends of the Small Screen; his early entertainment career; and his days as a military pilot.
McMahon also discusses the resurgence in popularity of the Johnny Carson era of The Tonight Show due to its release on DVD, which results in some unexpected experiences with his new teenaged fans. He goes on to provide advice for young people hoping to begin careers in the entertainment industry.
Finally, McMahon recalls some memorable moments from The Tonight Show, including actor Ed Ames’ famous tomahawk mishap.
