Hitchcock’s ‘39 Steps,’ Judy Garland musical featured in January’s KET Movie Classics lineup
A Hitchcock classic and the true story of Broadway pioneer Jerome Kern’s rise to fame, starring Judy Garland, are featured this month on KET Movie Classics. Each classic film airs Saturday at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET1 and encores the following Friday at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET2.

On Jan. 5 and 11, Alfred Hitchcock directs The 39 Steps, the story of a man who, falsely suspected of killing a spy, races across Scotland handcuffed to the beautiful blonde who turned him in.

Till the Clouds Roll By, a light bio-pic of songwriter Jerome Kern, features renditions of the famous songs from his musical plays by contemporary stage artists, including a condensed production of his most famous, Showboat. Starring Judy Garland, it airs Jan. 12 and 18.

In Of Mice and Men, George and Lenny work on a western ranch during the Great Depression, dreaming of the autonomy of owning and operating their own place some day. Starring Burgess Meredith and Lon Chaney Jr., it airs Jan. 19 and 25.

On Jan. 26 and Feb. 1, William Holden and Martha Scott star in an adaptation of the Thornton Wilder play Our Town, where George and Emily search for happiness in Grovers Corners.
