How education funds should be targeted in order to have the greatest impact was the focus of the Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center’s 14th annual conference in Lexington. Viewers can learn what experts at the November conference had to say about boosting Kentucky students’ academic achievement in Making Money Matter, which airs Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Thursday, Jan. 17 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET1.The conference addresses Kentucky’s limited financial resources and how they should be spent to achieve the best possible academic and social outcomes for all children in the Commonwealth.
The program provides an overview of the conference, which presented sessions on Kentucky’s educational progress, early childhood development and teacher compensation.
Featured speakers include Marc Tucker, president of the National Center on Education and the Economy; Ross Wiener, vice president for program and policy at the education trust; Stu Silberman, superintendent of Fayette County Public Schools; Kim Townley, University of Kentucky early childhood education specialist; and Doug Mesecar, acting assistant secretary for planning, evaluation and policy development at the U.S. Department of Education.
