Michael Pollan, the long-time New York Times Magazine writer who sparked a national dialogue with The Omnivore’s Dilemma, is the next author featured by Kentucky Author Forum Presents. The program airs Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET1.
The University of California at Berkeley journalism teacher showed in the best-selling The Omnivore’s Dilemma that we are indeed what we eat — and what we eat remakes the world. The book has sparked public dialogue about the American way of eating and the ecological and ethical dimensions of our food choices.
In his latest book In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto, Pollan continues his discussion of what to eat, what not to eat and how to reclaim our health and happiness as eaters.
On this program, Pollan is interviewed by Michael Shnayerson, who has written on subjects ranging from politics to arts to the environment. His latest book, Coal River, tells the story of activists working to save their homes and communities from mountaintop removal mining.
Kentucky Author Forum Presents “A Conversation with Michael Pollan” is a KET production. The producer-director is Duncan Hart; Nancy Carpenter serves as executive producer. The author’s appearance in Louisville was produced by the Kentucky Author Forum (Mary Moss Greenebaum, producer) and sponsored by the University of Louisville, in partnership with Brown-Forman and The Humana Foundation.
