KET’s TeleFund 2008 features a new Kentucky Life special about Abraham Lincoln, concerts from renowned musicians and a behind-the-scenes look at Masterpiece’s “The Complete Jane Austen.” TeleFund 2008 takes place March 1 through 16. As Kentucky and the rest of the nation embark on a two-year celebration of Abraham Lincoln, a new KET production explores the life and career of Kentucky’s most famous native son. Lincoln: ‘I, too, am a Kentuckian.’ is a Kentucky Life special hosted by Dave Shuffett. The program examines the many Kentucky people and places that profoundly influenced America’s sixteenth president. Premiering Saturday, March 1 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1 and KET HD, the program kicks off TeleFund 2008. It is KET’s first long-form documentary produced entirely in high definition. Lincoln: ‘I, too, am a Kentuckian.’ is made possible in part by a grant from the Kentucky Historical Society and The Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. TeleFund 2008 also features a diverse blend of music, including new concert specials from James Taylor, Martina McBride, The Everly Brothers and John Denver. My Music: Doo Wop Love Songs and Hollywood Singing and Dancing: A Musical Treasure are also highlighted. TeleFund viewers also meet The High Kings, an exciting Irish ballad group from the creators of Celtic Woman. Four top-class performers create this unique ensemble, re-energizing the great Irish ballads and introducing new songs from Ireland. Plus, Masterpiece goes behind the scenes of the popular series “The Complete Jane Austen” and provides insider insights. The program also features an analysis of the current Jane Austen craze and excerpts from the adaptations. “More than 32,000 members advance KET’s ability to provide rich and diverse programming and related educational services,” said Michele Ripley, president of the Commonwealth Fund for KET, the statewide network’s fund-raising arm. “And TeleFund 2008 is a celebration that invites individuals to impact families and communities around the state by supporting KET.” Viewers who want to become members or renew their membership may do so by phone at 1-800-866-0366; online at www.ket.org/support; or by sending a check to KET, 600 Cooper Drive, Lexington, KY. 40502.
