Louisville Life visits Ramsey Popcorn Co., learns about Oxmoor Farm’s Food Literacy Project, meets former Courier-Journal food editor Sarah Fritschner and shares tidbits about some of Louisville’s unique cuisine on the next edition. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, March 6 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.First, the program explores the city’s dining scene. Louisville has more than 2,500 restaurants, and local experts explain the city’s recipe for success. This segment features noted local food critic Robin Garr and Chef Michael Paley with Proof on Main.
Then, Louisville Life heads to Ramsey, Ind., to visit the Ramsey Popcorn Co., home of Cousin Willie’s popcorn. Edward Sieg and his wife, Agnes, began the business in 1944, going from store to store selling raw popcorn from the back of their truck. Today, Ramsey Popcorn Co. is one of the community’s largest employers.
Next, viewers meet Carol Gundersen, director of the Food Literacy Project at Oxmoor Farm. This project, which began in 2005, is designed to teach Louisvillians about the processes and products of organic and local agriculture. On the program, students from Jefferson County public schools visit Oxmoor Farm and enjoy a hands-on agricultural learning experience.
Then, Candyce interviews Sarah Fritschner, who spent 22 years as The Courier-Journal’s food editor. Candyce finds out what she’s up to now, and about life as a “foodie” in Louisville.
Finally, Louisville Life examines food that is linked to Kentucky, including the cheeseburger and the Hot Brown.
