On the next edition, Louisville Life visits the St. Francis of Assisi School, introduces the Squallis Puppeteers, explores the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium and meets a leader in the fight against multiple sclerosis. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, March 27 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, March 28 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, March 30 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.

First, Louisville Life looks at the St. Francis of Assisi School’s Holocaust education program. Instructor Fred Whitaker, who has been nationally recognized for teaching his students about the Holocaust, received the 2006 Outstanding Educator Award from the Anne Frank Center.

Next, the program features the Squallis Puppeteers, a troupe of puppet enthusiasts who make their own puppets, write their own plays and orchestrate them with original music.

Then, the program visits the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium, located on the University of Louisville’s campus, for some hi-tech star-gazing.

Back at the Louisville Life studio, Candyce meets Whitney Vogle, director of development for National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Kentucky-Southeast Indiana chapter. Vogle discusses Louisville’s 2008 MS walk in March and the chapter’s June bike ride, which starts at Churchill Downs and ends at Keeneland. Vogle also talks about the services the chapter provides for individuals and families affected by MS in 108 Kentucky counties.

And, nearly 75 years after Shirley Temple starred in The Little Colonel, the book series that inspired the film has garnered a new audience. Louisville Life learns about The Little Colonel’s Kentucky roots.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
