In a special two-part edition of Louisville Life, viewers go behind the scenes of Antiques Roadshow, and visit many of Louisville’s antiquing hot spots. The programs air Thursdays, April 17 and 24 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT and Mondays, April 21 and 28 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET2. During the two-part series, Louisville Life attends a special VIP Antiques Roadshow party and goes behind the scenes of Antiques Roadshow’s visit to Louisville. Viewers meet host Mark L. Walberg, executive producer Marsha Bemko and appraiser Wes Cowan, who was born in Louisville. Louisville Life also looks at the history of Louisville Antique Mall, home to five stories of merchandise from over 200 dealers, and highlights historic Glendale, which contains over a dozen antique and gift shops located within a two-block radius. Three very different collectors are featured: a toaster collector, a Star Wars collector and Chef John Castro, who collects 1950s-era furnishings. And, the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, a national non-profit organization headquartered in Louisville, shares its embroidery collection. Candyce interviews David Friedlander, owner of Friedlander Antiques and the unique Children’s Planet, and John Hassman, owner of A Taste of Kentucky, which offers gifts and products that have a distinct Kentucky flavor. The program also tours the Brennan House, a 17-room, three-story Italianate home built in 1868, and visits a popular mainstay on Main Street, Joe Ley Antiques, which has been delighting collectors, builders and the curious for nearly four decades. Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen.
