Visit the Louisville Life site: www.ket.org/louisvillelife/
The next Louisville Life highlights the Kentucky bourbon experience by way of Louisville, learns about therapeutic horseback riding and follows the making of a parade float for the Kentucky Derby Festival. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, May 1 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, May 2 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, May 4 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.

First, Louisville Life goes on Louisville’s Urban Bourbon Trail, which includes establishments that range from historic hotel lounges, like the Old Seelbach Bar, to trendy cosmopolitan bars, like Proof on Main. This segment also visits the Bourbon Heritage Center at the Heaven Hill Distilleries in Bardstown, and viewers meet Stacey Yates of the Greater Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau and Woodford Reserve master distiller Chris Morris.

Next, the program visits the Luci Center, a non-profit organization located in Shelbyville that provides therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with disabilities. Housed on a 26-acre farm, the Luci Center offers volunteers and participants a beautiful, peaceful environment where they can interact with horses.

Then, Louisville Life goes behind-the-scenes at the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Pegasus Parade to find out how participants from Hwang’s Martial Arts Academy make their float. Float creators compete for awards based on originality, eye appeal, theme representation, enthusiasm and more. Last year, Hwang’s float won third place. The president of the Kentucky Derby Festival, Mike Berry, also delves into the history of the festival’s longest-running event.

Next, Candyce speaks with Courier-Journal columnist Angie Fenton about celebrations for this year’s 134th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Finally, the program looks at Derby collectibles, including commemorative pins and glasses.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
