| KET names Kentucky Reading Rainbow winners |

KET recently announced the names of the Kentucky winners in the 14th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest for students in kindergarten, first, second and third grades. Jordan Wells of LaGrange is Kentucky’s third-grade level winner. She submitted the story “Softball” to the contest. The second-grade winner is Avery Logsdon of Lexington, who wrote the story “Willie the Shark President.” Lilly Mooney of Mount Washington is the winner at the first-grade level. Her story is entitled “The Puppy.” The kindergarten winner is Shawn Chadwick Fugate of Berea, who took top honors with the story “Maniac the Alien.” The winning stories are available for viewing at www.ket.org/readingrainbow. The Kentucky winner from each grade level is entered in the national Reading Rainbow contest for a chance to win a laptop computer among other special prizes. This year’s national winning entries will be posted on the PBS Kids Reading Rainbow site at www.pbskids.org/readingrainbow.
