Louisville Life learns how to dress like Elvis, meets Louisville artist Mary Ann Currier

For Release: 2008-06-02 10:06:00

Louisville Life visits a costume company known for “Elvis-wear” on the next edition, airing Thursday, June 19 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, June 20 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, June 22 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. The program also features the Howard Steamboat Museum, a look at KET’s newest arts series and an interview with the CEO of the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. Candyce Clifft hosts.

First, Louisville Life travels to B & K Enterprises Costume Company Inc. in Southern Indiana for a look at the best in Elvis costumes. B & K makes Elvis jumpsuit recreations by Gene Doucette and Bill Belew, who both designed costumes for the real Elvis. Part-time Elvises can also find Elvis casual clothing, Elvis capes, Elvis belts and Elvis accessories there.

Next, the program visits the Howard Steamboat Museum. The 1894 home-turned-museum was built by the Howards of Jeffersonville, Ind., who were celebrated steamboat builders. The 22-room mansion features original furnishings, brass chandeliers, stained glass windows and a grand staircase, all with details reminiscent of those of Howard steamboats. Also on display are items from legendary steamboats; thousands of photographs; and a large collection of tools, models and paintings.

This edition of Louisville Life also includes a segment on Louisville artist Mary Ann Currier from KET’s arts series, Kentucky Muse. Currier is widely acclaimed as an outstanding American realist painter and as an exceptional teacher, who has influenced generations of Kentucky artists.

Then, Candyce meets Terry Blackwell, the CEO of Girls Scouts of Kentuckiana, who talks about her vision for the future of the organization, including promoting courage, confidence and character in young girls around the Commonwealth.

Finally, Louisville Life profiles Louisville’s greatest champ, Muhammed Ali.

Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen.
