Visit the One to One with Bill Goodman site: www.ket.org/onetoone/
Host Bill Goodman speaks with neurologist Dr. Gregory A. Jicha from the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging at the University of Kentucky on the next edition of One to One. The program airs Sunday, June 15 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1 and Tuesday, June 17 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.

Jicha discusses his New England background, his career in Alzheimer’s treatment and research, and the importance of the Sanders-Brown Center. Sanders-Brown, he says, is one of the original 10 Alzheimer’s centers in the nation and remains a leader in the field. He describes the center’s groundbreaking “BRAINS” study, which follows a group of healthy adults over 70 as they age, tracking brain and memory functions.

Jicha also talks about the diagnosis, symptoms and risk factors of Alzheimer’s, as well as the kinds of examinations and tests a patient who might have Alzheimer’s undergoes. The doctor emphasizes the importance of customizing examinations to suit individual patients, explaining that while some patients may be able to endure hours of brain teasers and memory tests, others would find such a process leads to mistrust and frustration.

Finally, Jicha gives viewers some tips on how to keep the brain active and healthy.

One to One is a KET production, produced by Bill Goodman and Cindy Asher. Following the broadcast, One to One is available for on-demand videostream viewing at www.ket.org/onetoone and podcasting at www.ket.org/rss.
