Young percussionists, the nation’s oldest high school radio station, the “beverage architects” at Pro-Liquitech and writer c d kaplan are featured on the next edition of Louisville Life, airing Thursday, July 3 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, July 4 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, July 6 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Candyce Clifft hosts.First, Louisville Life meets the Louisville Leopard Percussionists, a unique performing ensemble of approximately 45 student musicians, ages 7 to 12. Recently the subject of an HBO documentary, the group is led by artistic director Diane Downs. Internationally recognized jazz pianist Harry Pickens said of Downs, “Her work has the potential to usher in a positive revolution in how children learn, appreciate, perform and create music.”
Next, the program heads to Indiana’s New Albany High School, where WNAS Radio has been broadcasting live since 1949. It has also aired locally produced programs around the clock since 1980. Louisville Life meets some of the station’s student staff.
Then, Louisville Life visits Pro-Liquitech, a company that creates and produces beverage, food and nutritional supplement products. The downtown Louisville business puts the flavor in drinks like Jones Soda.
Then, Candyce meets c d kaplan, a regular contributor to the Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO), film reviewer for Louisville Public Media and self-proclaimed “culture maven.”
Finally, Kentucky is well-known for its production and appreciation of quilts, and that passion is apparent in two special local exhibits. Louisville Life offers viewers a sneak peek.
