In recent years, paragliding has become a popular and easy-to-learn method of sharing the air with winged creatures of all sorts. Louise Crandal, two-time winner of the world paragliding championships, takes this one step further by convincing an eagle named Cossack to be her new training partner in Flying with Eagles. The program airs Monday, July 14 at 9:30/8:30 p.m. CT on KET2 and Saturday, July 19 at 10:30/9:30 p.m. CT on KET1.The program follows the intense and unpredictable training process the pair undergoes with the help of falconer Hans Nielsen. From the day Crandal finds Cossack in Scotland to months later as the pair soars above Lake Como in Italy, their dramatic journey together is captured through the use of robotic cameras, including one on the eagle’s back.
Flying with Eagles is produced by Danish Broadcasting Corporation and Paravision/Denmark. More information about KET programming and education services, as well as how to support KET, can be found at www.ket.org.
