Individually and as a group, Byron Berline, Dan Crary and John Hickman have brought innovation and new creative energy to the traditions of bluegrass and country music. Their performance together on Jubilee, taped at the River of Music Party in Owensboro last summer, airs Wednesday, July 16 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1 and Saturday, July 19 at 11/10 p.m. CT on KET2.Fiddle virtuoso Berline joined Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys in the 1960s. His long list of collaborative performing and recording credits includes sessions with The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, The Band, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Earl Scruggs, Emmylou Harris, Tammy Wynette, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Vince Gill.
Crary, a pioneering flat-picking guitarist with a reputation for innovation, has more than 50 years of experience as a performer. He has developed a unique approach to the steel-string, flat-top guitar, transforming what had always been an instrument of accompaniment into one with a leading role.
Regarded as one of the great masters of the banjo, Hickman has played with bluegrass greats such as Red Allen, Frank Wakefield and Earl Taylor’s Stoney Mountain Boys.
