On location at Western Kentucky University, host Bill Goodman sits down with former GOP presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) on the next edition of One to One. The program, taped before Paul’s announcement to withdraw from the 2008 presidential race, airs Sunday, July 13 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1 and Tuesday, July 15 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.Paul discusses the economy, the war in Iraq and other issues at the forefront of this presidential election year. He talks about his campaign goals, the differences between the current campaign and his 1988 candidacy as the Libertarian candidate, and the remarkable excitement and contributions of his supporters. He also mentions one of his most popular campaign tools: a series of cookbooks compiled by his wife, Carol, which contain recipes from family, friends and supporters.
Paul delves into his relationship with the media, including his popularity on the Internet and his appearances on The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and Meet the Press. He discusses some of his sources of inspiration, including Austrian economic theory and the U.S. Constitution.
Finally, the former candidate explains his concerns about the current economic downturn, gives his take on the policies of John McCain and Barack Obama and discusses his new book The Revolution: A Manifesto.
