Jeffrey Toobin, a staff writer at The New Yorker and the senior legal analyst for CNN, is the next guest on One to One with Bill Goodman, airing Sunday, Aug. 10 at 2/1 p.m. CT on KET1 and Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.
Toobin first describes his genetic ties to journalism as the son of Marlene Sanders, a pioneering female news correspondent for ABC and CBS, and Jerome Toobin, the longtime producer of PBS’s Bill Moyers Journal and co-founder of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
Then, Toobin outlines his early law career, including serving as a junior member of the prosecution team involved in the Iran-Contra scandal and Oliver North’s criminal trial. He also discusses his experiences as an analyst for CNN, describing the exciting political moments he has witnessed in the last year.
A bestselling author, Toobin talks about his newest book, The Nine, which profiles the members of the Supreme Court, exposing details of their personalities not usually on display for the public: David Souter’s old-fashioned lifestyle, Clarence Thomas’s bitterness about his confirmation hearings, Stephen Breyer’s skills as a negotiator.
