Louisville Life goes behind the scenes of Antiques Roadshow’s 2007 visit to Louisville and visits many of Louisville’s antiquing hot spots. The program airs Thursday, Aug. 28 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT; Friday, Aug. 29 at 4/3 p.m. CT; and Sunday, Aug. 31 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.First, Louisville Life attends a special VIP Antiques Roadshow party and looks at the massive production staged at the Kentucky International Convention Center last summer. Viewers meet host Mark L. Walberg, executive producer Marsha Bemko and appraiser Wes Cowan, a Louisville native.
The program also discovers the history of Louisville Antique Mall, home to five stories of merchandise from more than 200 dealers, and visits the mall’s new location on Broadway. Denise Golden, president and CEO of the mall, explains the daily operations, and antique dealers show off their most popular pieces.
Louisville Life also tours the Brennan House, a 17-room, three-story Italianate home built in 1868. The Brennan House’s richly decorated interior has remained virtually untouched. This segment features highlights from the Brennan collection, including a Tiffany lamp, an 18th-century Dutch clock and a Renaissance Revival bedroom suite.
Candyce interviews David Friedlander, owner of Friedlander Antiques and the unique Children’s Planet. Friedlander discusses how he entered the antiques business, items popular with Louisvillians and how Antiques Roadshow’s visit impacted his businesses.
Three very different collectors are also featured: a toaster collector, a Star Wars collector and Chef John Castro, who collects 1950s-era furnishings.
Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is content producer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen.
