Bill Goodman speaks with Tucker Carlson, MSNBC senior campaign correspondent, followed by John Harwood, CNBC chief Washington correspondent, on the next edition of One to One. The program airs Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m./noon CT on KET1 and Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.Carlson, who has covered all of the national campaigns since 1992, discusses the current race for the presidency. While most campaigns operate similarly, he says, Sen. Obama’s ability to draw enormous crowds and active donors gives his campaign the feel of a movement. Meanwhile, Sen. McCain’s gift as a natural conversationist continues to charm voters and journalists alike. Carlson also talks about the Libertarian Party, the reliability of political polling and his own career as a print journalist, author and television correspondent.
Harwood discusses the presidential election as well, including the unique qualities of each candidate, the public’s appetite for change and the key battleground states. Harwood explains why he believes it has become increasingly difficult to get things done in government and what needs to be happen in order to bring about change. Finally, he talks about his new book Pennsylvania Avenue: Profiles in Backroom Power, which is co-authored by Gerald Seib, executive Washington editor of The Wall Street Journal.
