The next edition of Kentucky Life spotlights the dancers of the Bluegrass Youth Ballet and the pampered patients at the Bluegrass Animal Rehabilitation and Hyperbaric Center (BARHC). Dave Shuffett hosts from Grayson Lake, a 1,500-acre lake in Carter County surrounded by sandstone bluffs. The program airs Saturday, Sept. 27 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1; Sunday, Sept. 28 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, Sept. 28 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET2.First, Kentucky Life visits Fayette County’s Bluegrass Youth Ballet. Viewers meet the creator of the organization, Adalhi Aranda Corn, who brings her creativity and artistry to the community through her students’ performances, participation in community festivals and fairs, educational workshops and performances for schools. The Youth Ballet’s performances are a collaborative effort between faculty, parents, students, local artists and arts organizations.
In Woodford County, the BARHC is setting new standards in animal care. While equine physical therapy is an established practice in Kentucky, the practice is new for companion animals. BARHC provides manual therapies, therapeutic ultrasound, lasers and hyperbaric oxygen therapy –– which delivers pure oxygen to the patient –– to improve the quality of life for pets. The organization’s state-of-the-art facility also includes an indoor swimming pool and underwater treadmill for strengthening and exercise.
