A new season of KET's Emmy Award-winning Louisville Life kicks off with the return of KentuckyShow!, graphic designer Julius Friedman and more. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2; Saturday, Oct. 4 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, Oct. 5 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.
First, Louisville Life gets a sneak peek at an updated HD multi-media experience that captures Kentucky's people, culture, history, music and spirit. Kentucky Show!, now housed in its own specially designed HD theater at The Kentucky Center, was originally shown using 40 slide projectors and 4,000 slides. The original KentuckyShow!, created by Sharon Potter in the early 1980s, ran for years in downtown Louisville and later in Bardstown. For the new HD production of KentuckyShow!, Potter enlisted the help of graphic artist Friedman to design graphics, posters, T-shirts and more. Louisville Life meets Friedman, co-founder of Images Design Studio in Louisville, and visits a retrospective exhibit of his work at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft. Next, Louisville Life visits WHY Louisville, a retail store that offers locally-designed T-shirts, gifts and more. WHY Louisville prides itself on providing an outlet for local artists. Then, KET is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and Louisville Life highlights the network's history in one minute . Finally, Candyce sits down with Stephen Klein, president of The Kentucky Center, which is celebrating an anniversary of its own. Klein discusses the center's 25th season of concerts, shows and performances. Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is producer/writer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
