The next edition of Louisville Life looks at a Kentuckian’s home movie preserved by the Library of Congress, visits Bernheim Forest and Arboretum, meets unique Louisville architects and more. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, Oct. 16 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2; Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, Oct. 19 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.Each year, the Library of Congress selects 25 films to add to its prestigious film registry. The most recent selection of films included Now Voyager, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and a 1938 home movie about a day in the life of a Lebanon, Ky., family. Louisville Life looks back at the life of Wallace Kelly, a photographer, award-winning novelist and the creator of the film, and travels to Lebanon to find out what the locals think about this unique honor.
Next, Louisville Life visits Bernheim Forest and Arboretum in Clermont. The largest private forest in the state, Bernheim features a canopy “treewalk,” more than 30 miles of hiking trails and woodland roads, a diverse array of wildlife and an art gallery among other attractions.
Next, viewers meet Roberto De Leon and Ross Primmer of De Leon and Primmer Architecture Workshop. Louisville Life learns about the architects’ hands-on collaborative design process as they discuss their current Riverview Park plans. This segment also visits one of their well-known projects –– St. Francis High School.
Then, Candyce interviews Linda K. Miller, executive director of Dare to Care, an organization created to end hunger in disadvantaged Louisville neighborhoods. Miller discusses Dare to Care’s Hunger Walk.
Finally, the program gives the history of the Peterson-Dumesnil House. The Italian villa was built in 1869 as a summer home for Joseph Peterson, a prominent tobacco trader.
