Four-time winner of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IMBA) fiddle player of the year award and Grammy-nominated musician Michael Cleveland brings dynamic traditional bluegrass to the Jubilee stage with his band, Flamekeeper. The program, taped at the River of Music Party in Owensboro last summer, airs Saturday, Oct. 18 at 11/10 p.m. CT on KET2 and Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1.This performance also features IBMA award-winner Audie Blaylock on guitar and vocals. The group’s tight vocal harmonies, blistering instrumentals and fiddle-and-banjo duets echo the first-generation stars of bluegrass, bringing focused energy and talent to traditional and original tunes while maintaining a lighthearted and fun expression throughout.
The current lineup, featuring Bowling Green’s Jesse Brock on mandolin, Barry Reed on bass and John Mark Batchelor on banjo, was awarded the IBMA’s instrumental group of the year award for 2007. Their new album is titled Leavin’ Town.
Jubilee is a KET production, distributed to public television stations nationwide. The series is directed by Nick Helton and produced by Duncan Hart. Nancy Carpenter is executive producer.
