In A Letter to America, University of Oklahoma President David Boren explains with unsparing clarity why he believes America is at a crossroads and why decisive action is urgently needed. The former senator and governor shares his thoughts as he is interviewed by NPR’s Neal Conan in Kentucky Author Forum Presents “A Conversation with David Boren, airing Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET1.

Boren, who represented Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate, was its longest-serving chairman of the Intelligence Committee and served as governor of the state of Oklahoma from 1975 through 1979.

A Letter to America honestly examines the current and future roles of the United States in world politics, addressing the issue of how the U.S. can remain a global superpower. The answer, Boren says, lies in bipartisan cooperation, and major reforms to restore the ability of the political system to act responsibly. David McCullough, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian, praises the work as “wise, timely and constructive views from one of the leading public servants and educators of our time.”

Kentucky Author Forum Presents “A Conversation with David Boren” is a KET production. The producer/director is Tom Bickel; Teresa Day serves as executive producer. The author’s appearance in Louisville was produced by the Kentucky Author Forum (Mary Moss Greenebaum, producer) and sponsored by the University of Louisville, in partnership with Brown-Forman and The Humana Foundation.
