The next edition of Equitrekking, an adventure and travel series that explores the world on horseback, visits several Bluegrass sites, including Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill, Land Between the Lakes, the Kentucky Horse Park and more. The program airs Saturday, Nov. 1 at 1:30/12:30 p.m. CT on KET1.The equitrekkers discover wildflowers, the old mill site and rolling green hills on the trails at Shaker Village. And, Shaker Village's naturalist allows them to ride the horses through the center of the well-preserved historic village.
Next, the group follows the riding trails at Land Between the Lakes and Barren River State Park in Western Kentucky, imagining what the area looked like when Native Americans and buffalo roamed the tall grasslands.
The program then travels to the Kentucky Horse Park for a fast-paced, world-class equestrian competition. The Horse Park's Secretariat Center, which rehabilitates racehorses to prepare them for new homes, is also featured. Viewers meet one of the Center's successful patients, King D.
This season of Equitrekking also travels to Costa Rica, Arizona, Belize, Texas, Southern Quebec and Utah as host and equestrian travel expert Darley Newman focuses on the beauty of the natural world, spotting howler monkeys, iguanas, red-eyed tree frogs and other captivating wildlife in the rainforest, at beaches and even at the base of a very active volcano.
Equitrekking is produced by DCN Creative/Bethesda, Md . More information about KET programming and education services, as well as how to support KET, can be found at www.ket.org.
