The next edition of Louisville Life profiles filmmaker, entrepreneur and environmentalist Gill Holland; showcases the Zoom Group's talented artists; and much more. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2; Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday , Nov. 9 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.First, Louisville Life travels to Market Street to Holland's newly renovated Green Building. The Green Building is a 110-year-old structure that he has turned into a sustainable, environmentally-friendly commercial building, which will include a café, garden, art gallery and event space. Holland talks about his vision of creating a vibrant artistic community in the Market Street area and his creative endeavors in the film, publishing and music industries.
Next, Louisville Life learns about the Zoom Group's Studio Works program, which provides services to artistically inclined individuals with developmental disabilities. Along with their downtown gallery space, Zoom Group artists' work has appeared in New York art shows, and it decorates the Capitol office of 3rd District Congressman John Yarmuth.
Then, the program looks at the history of the Louisville Free Public Libraries, focusing on the centennial celebrations of the Crescent Hill and York Street branches.
As the nation celebrates Veterans Day, Louisville Life looks back at the whirlwind rise and fall of Camp Zachary Taylor, a local artillery camp that was once the largest of its kind in the U.S.
Finally, Chris Poynter, deputy director for communications for Mayor Jerry Abramson, tells Candyce about downtown Louisville's First Friday Trolley Hop, a free trolley route that travels to art galleries, restaurants and pubs. Poynter also talks about the importance of the arts in Louisville communities.
