The next Louisville Life features two famous Louisville hotels, a charitable group of knitters, a popular Midway restaurant and much more. The program airs Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2; Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, Dec. 14 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2. Candyce Clifft hosts.
First, Louisville Life examines the histories of two of the city's legendary hotels: the Brown and the Seelbach. The Seelbach opened in 1905 and has hosted nine U.S. presidents -- and Al Capone. The Brown, which opened in 1923, is on the National Register of Historic Places and is the namesake of Louisville's most famous dish, the Hot Brown. Next, viewers meet the Tuesday Knitters, who knit for charity in downtown Jeffersonville, Ind. The knitters recently celebrated the completion of their 1,000th hand-knitted sweater. The group sends its sweaters to Knit for Kids, which gives them to disadvantaged children in impoverished areas locally and abroad. Then, it's back to Louisville to tour the historic home known as Whitehall. Built around 1855 with a modest eight rooms, Whitehall has been through numerous additions and renovations. Today, the vast house is open to the public for tours and is a popular venue for weddings, receptions and other occasions. At the studio, Candyce interviews Jennifer Rubenstein of the Louisville Independent Business Alliance, who discusses the importance of supporting locally-owned businesses. Finally, the program travels to one of Kentucky's prominent dining destinations, Midway. This segment spotlights the Holly Hill Inn, which is owned and operated by Chris and Ouita Michel. Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is producer/writer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen.
