KET program examines big ideas in Kentucky

For Release: 2008-12-09 09:35:00

A number of trends and forces, both positive and negative, are affecting Kentucky’s future and require prompt and highly ambitious responses. In September, more than 200 citizens and policymakers met at the Ali Center in Louisville to discuss transformational ideas for moving Kentucky forward. The resulting discussion is the focus of Visioning Kentucky’s Future: Measures and Milestones, airing Monday, Dec. 22 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1.

Moderated by KET’s Bill Goodman, the forum contains a panel discussion in which participants suggest and evaluate a range of “big ideas” for catapulting Kentucky forward. Participants included authors, entrepreneurs, and health-care, policy and political experts.

Some of the ideas suggested include a statewide ban on smoking, clean energy initiatives and new sources of state revenue to finance these new big ideas.

Visioning Kentucky’s Future: Measures and Milestones is a KET production, produced by Renee Shaw and Goodman. More information about KET programming and education services, as well as how to support KET, can be found at www.ket.org.
