The next edition of Louisville Life meets popular newspaper columnists Byron and Eric Crawford, visits Louisville's newest cooperative art gallery, profiles the man who established opera in Louisville and much more. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2; Saturday, Jan. 17 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, Jan. 18 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.
First, Louisville Life meets Bryon, a retired Courier-Journal columnist, and his son, Eric, who writes a sports column for the same newspaper. Byron, former host of KET's Kentucky Life, talks about the decades he spent traveling the back roads of Kentucky, looking for stories to share with his loyal readers. And Eric discusses his work as a sports columnist and what it's like to be a second-generation Courier-Journal writer. Next, the Pyro Gallery shares its diverse collection, which represents many local artists. Then, the program profiles opera legend Moritz von Bomhard, who founded the Kentucky Opera in 1952. The Bomhard Theater at the Kentucky Center for the Arts is named in his honor. Next , Candyce interviews Joanna Haas, new executive director of the Louisville Science Center, the largest hands-on science center in Kentucky. Finally, Chef Dean Corbett has a history of creating fine dining in Louisville; he is best known for his Equus restaurant. Louisville Life catches up with him at his new restaurant, Corbett's, which is housed in a historic mansion. The restaurant was recognized as one of the nation's 20 Best New Restaurants by Esquire magazine. Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is producer/writer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
