The next Kentucky Life visits the Mill Springs Battlefield and Museum, profiles Kentucky actor Warren Oates, and meets some champion athletes who recently visited the Commonwealth. The program, hosted by Dave Shuffett, airs Saturday, Jan. 24 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1; Sunday, Jan. 25 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, Jan. 25 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET2.

The Mill Springs Battlefield Visitors Center and Museum commemorates the January 1862 Battle of Mill Springs, fought during the early days of the Civil War. Located in Pulaski County, the center overlooks the battlefield where Union forces camped. The museum contains letters, diary entries and other materials to help guests learn about the soldiers who fought there.

The program also celebrates the life and Hollywood career of Oates through stories told by his friends and admirers, including fellow Kentuckian and actor Ned Beatty.

Finally, Northern Kentucky hosts a prestigious world-wide Schutzhund competition that tests the abilities of German Shepherd dogs in tracking, protection and obedience. The Boone County event attracts an international crowd of competitive canines to Kentucky.

Kentucky Life is a KET production, produced by Brandon Wickey. Segment producers are Shuffett, Tom Thurman and Valerie Trimble. More information about Kentucky Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/kentuckylife.
