Jesse and Stephanie Morris

Pastor Jesse Morris and his wife, Stephanie, former owners of Central Kentucky's Old Happy Days Barbecue restaurants and founders of the Inner City Breakthrough Ministry in Lexington, are the next guests on Connections with Renee Shaw. The program airs Friday, March 27 at 4/3 p.m. CT on KET2 and Sunday, March 29 at 1:30/12:30 p.m. CT on KET1.

The couple discusses their 11 years in the restaurant business and the decision to close Old Happy Days and work in the ministry full time. They also talk about why they wanted to start a "feeding ministry," in which church-goers would receive a hot meal to restore their bodies and a dose of Christian gospel to rebuild their spirits.

Most members of the Breakthrough Ministry's congregation are homeless and many suffer from drug and alcohol addiction. The Morrises explain that they are no strangers to homelessness and addiction and talk about how their faith helped them improve their own lives. This background, they say, helps them connect with the people they serve.

The Morrises also discuss their Mission House, a three-bedroom furnished house where some members of their ministry live, and their Feeding for Change program, which puts people to work preparing and delivering barbecue lunches.
