Elizabeth Gilbert, author of the No. 1 New York Times bestselling memoir Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India, and Indonesia, is the next featured guest on Kentucky Author Forum Presents, airing Monday, March 23 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET1 and Monday, March 30 at 10/9 p.m. CT on KET2.Gilbert is interviewed by ZZ Packer, author of the short-story collection Drinking Coffee Elsewhere. The two discuss the bestseller as well as her soon-to-be-reissued debut novel, Stern Men.
Gilbert's experience as a writer traverses many genres. She has written for publications as varied as GQ, The New York Times, SPIN and Travel & Leisure. Her short story collection, Pilgrims, received a Pushcart Prize and was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award. She adapted her GQ article on Eustace Conway into a biography of the naturalist, The Last American Man, which was a finalist for the National Book Award in non-fiction.
She also appears in "The 2008 TIME 100: The World's Most Influential People" and the film rights to Eat, Pray, Love have been sold to Paramount.
Born in Chicago and raised in Atlanta and Louisville, Packer is a 1990 graduate of Louisville's Seneca High School. Drinking Coffee Elsewhere was included in the New Yorker's Debut Fiction issue in 2000 and was a New York Times Notable Book and a PEN/Faulkner Award finalist.
