KET recently received a My Source Community Impact Award for Education from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).
The My Source Community Impact Awards for Education were created by CPB to give recognition to public television stations for their commitment to providing educational services to learners of all ages and abilities, all races and backgrounds, from pre-schoolers to senior citizens, as well as for the services the stations provide to teachers, parents and caregivers. KET was recognized for Arts Toolkits and KET EncycloMedia. Arts Toolkits are packages of multimedia resources designed to provide teachers with high-quality teaching tools that align to Kentucky academic standards while bringing the excitement of dance, drama, music and the visual arts into the classroom. KET EncycloMedia has now been used by more than 40,000 Kentucky teachers. The award was presented at the CPB/PBS hosted Council of Chief State School Officers Executive Summit, Saturday, March 7 in Washington, DC. CPB is a private, nonprofit corporation created by Congress in 1967 and is st eward of the federal government's investment in public broadcasting.
