Larry Conley, a star of one of UK's most beloved basketball teams, Rupp's Runts, is the next guest on One to One with Bill Goodman. The program airs Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m./noon CT on KET1 and Tuesday, March 31 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2.The famous 1965-66 team is remembered as Rupp's Runts because the tallest player among the starting five was guard Tommy Kron, who was 6'5." The other players include Thad Jaracz, Pat Riley and Louie Dampier. Conley was a three-year Academic All-American at Kentucky and is the school's ninth all-time leader in assists.
Conley, who grew up in Ashland, Ky., talks about his time with legendary coach Adolph Rupp and what life has been like since. He discusses how basketball has changed over the years, as he explains the importance of not only participating in the sport, but also earning a college degree. And, he delves into his career on the other side of the court as a Raycom Sports analyst.
Finally, the hoops star speaks about UK's famous 1966 NCAA title game against the all African-American Texas Western team -- a game that ended the Wildcats' season as the country's top-ranked college basketball team. He explains how that game became one of the major milestones of his life and career.
