KET will turn off its analog transmitters and broadcast in digital only beginning April 16. Prior to this, a live special provides viewers with an opportunity to get answers to any remaining questions they might have about the digital transition. Digital TV Call-In airs Tuesday, April 7 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET1.Digital television is a newer, more efficient, broadcast technology that offers viewers dramatically clearer pictures and better sound than the traditional analog system.
In this program, KET experts will offer information that will help viewers get a clear signal over the air using an antenna. Information also will be available about converter boxes, which must be used for over-the-air viewers who use an older analog set.
KET recommends viewers test their KET signal now, before the analog shut-off, to make sure they're receiving a clear signal. Viewers who receive KET over the air can take advantage of KET's dual signal broadcast by finding the best possible analog signal and seeing if their sets' built-in digital tuners or digital converter boxes can pick up the digital signal. Poor analog reception will likely mean no digital reception at all. However, there are several things viewers can do to improve signal reception.
