James Surowiecki, staff writer for The New Yorker, interviews Michael Kinsley, columnist for Time magazine, about his work as editor on Creative Capitalism: A Conversation with Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and other Economic Leaders in Kentucky Author Forum Presents Great Conversations "Michael Kinsley and James Surowiecki," airing Sunday, April 5 at 10:30/9:30 p.m. CT on KET1 and Wednesday, April 8 at 9/8 p.m. CT on KET2.At the 2008 annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Bill Gates advocated a creative capitalism in which big corporations, the distinguishing feature of the modern global economy, integrate doing good in to their way of doing business. This idea is discussed and debated by the more than 40 contributors to Kinsley's book, among them three Nobel laureates and two former U.S. cabinet secretaries.
A noted journalist and political commentator, Kinsley was editor of The New Republic magazine, host of CNN's Crossfire and founded Slate, the nation's first online magazine. He also served as the editorial page editor for The Los Angeles Times and has written for The Guardian.
Surowiecki, who writes a regular column for the Times on business and finance called "The Financial Page," got his start on the Internet when he was hired from graduate school by Motley Fool co-founder David Gardner to be the Fool's editor-in-chief of its culture site on America Onl ine, entitled "Rogue."
