The next Kentucky Life enjoys the German fare at Hofbrauhaus Newport, meets artist Lisa Williamson, visits the Wolf Run Wildlife Refuge and presents more Paw Pals. The program, hosted by Dave Shuffett, airs Saturday, May 2 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1; Sunday, May 3 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, May 3 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET2.First, Kentucky Life visits Hofbrauhaus Newport, a biergarden and restaurant that would be at home on Germany's Rhine River. A popular stop on the Kentucky side of the Ohio, Hofbrauhaus Newport is a home away from home for the many Northern Kentucky families with German roots.
Next, Williamson, whose paintings have been displayed at the Smithsonian and at major shows in Boston and in Florida, returns to her childhood home in Martin County and the landscape that inspired her work.
Then, the program highlights Jessamine County's Wolf Run Wildlife Refuge, home to rescued wolves and wolf hybrids, lions, fox, monkeys, potbellied pigs, horses and deer. A licensed wildlife rehabilitation facility, Wolf Run rescues, treats and returns to the wild all the animals it can. For those that can't be set free, Wolf Run provides a lifetime home and a valuable educational experience for visitors.
