The next Louisville Life features the first ever Derby fashion exhibition at the Kentucky Derby Museum, goes exploring with Mint Julep Tours and profiles past president of Churchill Downs Col. Matt Winn. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, April 30 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2; Saturday, May 2 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, May 3 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.
First, Louisville Life visits the Kentucky Derby Museum to learn about the history of fashion at the Derby and its importance in the signature Louisville event. The museum is hosting a comprehensive exhibition on Derby fashion, starting with a display of lavish gowns. Next, viewers sample an outing with Mint Julep Tours, which offers guided adventures through historic Louisville, horse country, bourbon distilleries and more. Louisville Life accompanies Mint Julep Tours to Brown Forman's Blue Grass Cooperage, one of the world's largest producers of whiskey barrels. Then, Louisville Life profiles former president of Churchill Downs Winn, who saved the race track before it fell to financial ruin. And, legendary jockey Patricia Cooksey joins Candyce in the studio to discuss her decades-long racing career and her current position as the director of public relations with the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority. Finally, the program explores the sweet success of Kern's Kitchen, a small family operation that developed DERBY-PIE®. Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is producer/writer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen. More information about Louisville Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/loulife.
