Civil War re-enactors skirmish in Pike County, industrious farmers turn to agri-tourism to carry on the family legacy, a memorial worthy of the great racehorse John Henry takes shape and more Paw Pals are featured on the next edition of Kentucky Life. The program, hosted by Dave Shuffett, airs Saturday, June 6 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET1; Sunday, June 7 at 4:30/3:30 p.m. CT on KET1; and Sunday, June 7 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET2.

First, Civil War re-enactors skirmish in the hills and along the shores of Pike County's Russell Fork River during the festival known as Bushwhacking on the Russell Fork. History lessons come alive as visitors learn how soldiers lived and fought during the Civil War.

Next, Kentucky Life tours Chaney's Dairy Barn, a family farm in Warren County, where visitors learn about cows, milk and farm life -- and enjoy a scoop of premium homemade ice cream. The Chaneys discuss the hard work of farming and the success they've found through agri-tourism.

Then, the program finds out how artists and fans have memorialized one of racing's greatest horses, John Henry. The John Henry Memorial Sculpture was created by artist Shelley Hunter with funds raised by the underdog hero's admirers. This segment follows the process of creating the sculpture, which now stands at the Kentucky Horse Park.

Kentucky Life is a KET production, produced by Brandon Wickey. Segment producers are Barbara Deeb, Shuffett and Valerie Trimble. More information about Kentucky Life, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/kentuckylife.
