The next Louisville Life raises the drawbridge in Versailles, visits Kentucky's oldest historical society, looks back at Louisville's majestic movie houses and more. The program, hosted by Candyce Clifft, airs Thursday, May 14 at 7:30/6:30 p.m. CT on KET2; Saturday, May 16 at 7/6 p.m. CT on KET1 ; and Sunday, May 17 at noon/11 a.m. CT on KET2.
For decades, passersby have wondered what lies beyond the walls of Versailles' famous roadside attraction. Louisville Life takes viewers on the grand tour of CastlePost, now a luxurious guest hotel.
Then, Louisville Life highlights the Filson Historical Society. Founded in 1884, Filson is Kentucky's oldest privately supported historical society. Today, more than 12,000 people visit the society annually to conduct research, attend programs and tour the museum.
Next, the program revisits Louisville's grand movie palaces of the past.
Back at the studio, Candyce interviews Brad Broecker, CEO of the Louisville Orchestra. Broecker discusses the orchestra's upcoming season and its participation in the League of American Orchestras' "Institutional Vision," a nationally competitive program.
Finally, Louisville Life meets Roger Fristoe, whose Courier-Journal column guided Louisville moviegoers at the box office for many years. Now, Fristoe contributes to Turner Classic Movie's monthly magazine and stars in a one-man stage production of I am My Own Wife.
Louisville Life is a KET production, produced and directed by Gary Pahler. Jayne McClew is producer/writer; associate producer is Kelli Brodersen.
