KET names Kentucky winners for Reading Rainbow's Young Writers and Illustrators contest
KET has announced the names of the Kentucky winners in the 15th Annual Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest for students in kindergarten, first, second and third grades.

Morgan S. of Lexington is Kentucky's third-grade winner. She submitted the story "Once in a Blue Moon," in which a girl unexpectedly visits a magical fairy land.

The second-grade winner is Jordan G. of Lexington, who wrote the story "My Dog's Job" about an extensive career search for the family pet, Bailey.

Max C. of Russell, Ky., is the winner at the first-grade level. His story, "Stegosaurus and His Bad Day," features the misadventures of a young dinosaur whose friends refuse to play with him.

The kindergarten winner is Sarah P. of Hillsboro, who took top honors with the story "Puppy, The Little Brown Dog and Her Playdate" about three dogs who spend a happy day playing together.

The winning stories are available for viewing at www.ket.org/readingrainbow.

The Kentucky winner from each grade level is entered in the national Reading Rainbow contest for a chance to win a laptop computer, among other special prizes. This year's national winning entries will be posted on the PBS Kids Reading Rainbow site at www.pbskids.org/readingrainbow.
