Inspired by the book FatherLoss: How Sons of All Ages Come to Terms with the Deaths of Their Dads, by Lexington author Neil Chethik, this special new Kentucky Life program explores the unique grief sons face when they lose their fathers. It premieres Father's Day weekend on Saturday, June 20 at 8/7 p.m. CT and Sunday, Jun e 21 at 4:30/3 :30 p.m. CT on KET1 and Sunday, June 21 at 7/6 p . m . CT on KET2.Host Dave Shuffett makes a personal journey of discovery after the death of his father in 2007, sharing his struggles in the wake of the loss. He also interviews several other Kentucky men about father-loss, including Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Joel Pett, Lexington Family Magazine editor John Lynch and Father Norman Fischer of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Lexington.
Setting the tone for the program is a quote from General Douglas MacArthur who carried his father's photo in his wallet for 50 years: "My whole world changed that night, never have I been able to heal the wound in my heart."
