Visit the Connections with Renee Shaw site: www.ket.org/connections/
Kentucky Personnel Cabinet Secretary Nikki Jackson, one of the subjects of artist Pat Gallagher's 10 Most Inspirational Women of Louisville series of paintings, discusses her background, her ideas for engaging state employees, the cabinet's current programs and more on the next Connections with Renee Shaw. The program airs Friday, June 26 at 4/3 p.m. CT on KET2 and Sunday, June 28 at 1:30/12:30 p.m. CT on KET1.

Prior to her current post, Jackson served as a human resources manager for several nationally recognized companies, including Philip Morris USA and Norton Healthcare. She discusses how she became cabinet secretary, moving from the private sector into a public position with state government and balancing her career with her life at home.

Jackson explains her plans to encourage engagement and innovation in state employees and promote new ways for those employees to find value in their jobs. For instance, the cabinet has recently launched a popular Journey to Wellness program, which helps people quit smoking, manage weight and stay active, among other healthy habits.

Jackson also discusses attending Hampton University, a historically black university in Hampton, Va.; why she believes it’s a good time to work for the Commonwealth of Kentucky; how she will measure the success of her time as personnel cabinet secretary; and more.

Connections with Renee Shaw is a KET production, produced by Shaw and Carolyn Gwinn. More information about Connections, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/connections.
